As with all spirit communication techiques, there are lots we don’t understand and know about. There are dangers for the psychic performing the automatic writing session and the message receiver itself.
When conducted in a safe way, you can get access to invaluable insights into a haunting. Automatic writing is an excellent way of identifying who is haunting the site and if there are any messages they need to get through.
At times, the only thing needed for a haunting to calm down is receiving the message the spirits urgently need to forward.
Dangers for psychics and recievers
There is always a risk that psychics fake the messages as we cannot “check” the answers for correctness. Of course, at times, we get spot-on information that is in line with historical research – but still, this is information already available to us.
The danger with automatic writing, as with all psychic work, is that the spirit takes over the body and attaches or even possesses the medium. As the medium loses control over the body, they cannot help themselves out of the situation. They can hurt themselves or others in the worst scenario.
Another danger is that the medium receives lies and deceit from the demonic. The message tells them to trust the paranormal activity in the house.
It is crucial to remember that automatic writing is not scientifically proven. This is the case with everything paranormal. You have to take everything with a grain of salt and reason.
Signs of negative energies during automatic writing
When you use automatic writing to access messages from the spirits, you need to watch out for signs of negative energies.
As negative energies and the demonic can harm you as you invite them in, you must be very careful. You allow the spirit realm to enter your body and mind during divination. Always start your session by setting strict rules that only spirits of the light are allowed to communicate. Never, under any circumstance, invite dark energies to communicate.
Stop the session immediately if your intuition tells you something is not right. Always listen to your gut feeling. It is the best defense you got.
Other signs of dark or demonic presence are sudden cold (or extreme warm) sensations, scratches, burns, pain, anxiety, stress, fear, or lack of breath. In the list below, you will find signs that might indicate a negative presence taking hold of the medium.

Some psychic mediums go into trans others don’t. If you are a medium that goes into a trans-like state when you do automatic writing – never do it alone. You might need help to return to consciousness.
If you are not in trans, it is still recommended to have a bysitter close, but not essential. Always be careful, as you never know how you might react if you are approached by intense negative energy.
Never invite negative or demonic entities during spirit communication sessions. You don’t know what you invite, which can lead to dangerous situations.
Make your automatic writing sessions safe
Setting strict rules for the spirits is essential to make the automatic writing session as safe as possible. Many pitfalls could lead to disaster and danger.
Negative energies and the demonic can only reach you if you invite them. This is why they lure and trick you into believing they are kind spirits. Therefore you must state at the beginning of the session that only spirits of light are welcomed.
